‘The Vision Forward’ painting Made-For-Singapore turbocharged Toyota Harrier

June 28, 2018 by Andy Yang

A couple of months ago. My long-time friend and collaborator, Calvin Soh contacted me for a possible project proposal. It turned out to be the new Made-For-Singapore Turbocharged Toyota Harrier event that was held on 20th of July, 2017. At that point in time, I just completed a year-long painting project of his. Being aware of my air blown painting techniques that I use for my abstract paintings. He shared with me an idea about incorporating my painting style for […]

OCBC Bank of Singapore Campaign

June 22, 2018 by Andy Yang

Another awesome campaign with the agency, GOVT Singapore. This time for their client, OCBC Bank Singapore. The creative brief was to create a set of hand drawn detailed sketches of prominent landmarks of the selected countries with a pen in silver coloured conductor paint that will connect the cities when the LED light bulbs are placed on the sketch lines. Pretty straightforward? Not really, when one of the final output is a wall mural print on a silver colour base […]

Oku Japanese Fine Dining Restaurant

June 21, 2018 by Andy Yang

Oku, which was previously known as TFS Private Works is a Japanese fine dining restaurant nestled in the busy Telok Ayer St, Singapore. This restaurant is also a souped up sister version of the successful restaurant set-up, The Flying Squirrel located at Amoy St on the next street.  The clients were looking for a particular look with vintage Japanese style painting with a contemporary modern twist. To match the restaurants theme and menu. The idea was to portray the 4 […]

UNIQLO From Tokyo to Malaysia

June 21, 2018 by Andy Yang

These set of illustrations was quite challenging. The idea was to showcase prominent building landmarks from various states in Malaysia to launch the Uniqlo chain of stores there. The challenge was to build these landmarks only with limited Uniqlo fonts with names of the states in Malaysia in the corporate Uniqlo colour ‘red’. Seems easy, but I can only play with the sizes of the words. No skewing, distorting and cropping of the words allowed. Almost went cross-eyed after the […]

Juvederm Medical Illustrations

June 21, 2018 by Andy Yang

Really enjoyed working on this with McCann Healthcare Singapore for their Juvederm client. I had to research on quite a number of medical reference books and illustrations before working on this because it requires me to have a certain amount of medical knowledge to make the illustrations informative. Thoroughly enjoyed the process because I have always been amazed by vintage illustrations of the human anatomy.

TingkART Singapore Food Festival 2017/18

June 21, 2018 by Andy Yang

This illustration project was commissioned by TBWA Singapore for Singapore Tourism Board (STB) for its annual Singapore Food Festival. Four artists were selected to custom paint the tingkat, a traditional steel tiffin carrier widely used in South East Asia to keep cooked food. I was selected to work on the more traditional Peranakan theme which required me to work in the distinctive cultures derived from the 4 races of Singapore which consist of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian into the […]

‘Tales They Told Me’ CD/LP Cover Artwork

August 21, 2017 by Andy Yang

Kerong Chok ‘Tales They Told Me’ LP Idea Description Here it is! The final artwork for Chok Kerong’s ‘Tales They Told Me’ LP. Based on the brief by Kerong on the general idea of musical DNA being passed down from generation to generation. It led me down the path of research on ancient scrolls and how most world religions and civilisations are based on knowledge passed down orally from generation to generation. There is no right or wrong. Just the […]

Gallery Light To Night Festival

January 23, 2017 by Andy Yang

To mark it’s first anniversary,  National Gallery Singapore (NGS) appointed Singapore ad agency, Govt to work on the campaign and event for their Gallery Light to Night Festival. The first layout for the idea was the portrait format to show the light to night effect. If you look at the layout carefully, it is not a mirror image. Both light and night illustrations are totally 2 separate illustrations, each containing their own respective elements and events. Then came the approval to go […]
